A construction contract on upgrading old sewer pipes in HCM City using trenchless technology was signed on August 21 between the HCM City Urban Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board (UICI) and Japan's Yasuda Engineering Corporation.
Việt Nam's 2026 university admissions season has highlighted a growing divide between technology-related and social science programmes, with some AI and technology courses recording unprecedented entry scores while several social science disciplines have seen sharp declines. As students weigh their options, education experts say long-term prospects depend on more than simply choosing a popular degree.
Storm Narra, the fourth to hit the East Sea this year, brought strong winds and heavy rains to northern Việt Nam on early August 22, with some areas forecast to receive more than 500mm of rain as the storm moves slowly over the northern waters of the East Sea.
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng said without swift action, the damage could disrupt daily life and keep students from attending school at the start of the academic year.
The project will rehabilitate ageing sewerage pipes in the city’s downtown, using trenchless technology to improve drainage and sewerage network performance, reduce the risk of road subsidence, and enhance public health and urban resilience.
